Geoclima was commissioned by Danfoss – the market leader of Power Solutions, Climate Solutions and Drives – to design a chiller for its headquarters in Kolding, Denmark. The project was aimed to install a new unit with the highest possible efficiency. The chiller had to be equipped with Danfoss controls and the innovative Danfoss Turbocor oil-free compressors. Moreover, Danfoss wanted to use the chiller as a showroom, so visitors could see another application of Danfoss products.
Geoclima 114 RT air-cooled Circlemiser chiller at the Danfoss headquarters in Kolding, Denmark.
To meet its requirements, Geoclima developed a 114 RT air-cooled Circlemiser with oil-free centrifugal compressor and cylindrical condensers. Circlemiser is an exclusive technology that is characterized by an innovative design allowing unparalleled performance and efficiency. The chiller is designed to use HFO-1234ze, the greenest refrigerant in the world, with GWP<1 (according to a 2015 IPCC study) and classified as A2L according to ASHRAE 34. The unit ensures a high level of efficiency (20.24 Btu/Wh).
Together with Danfoss, a series of extreme customizations have been developed making this project unique: the unit was painted the same color as the Danfoss brand; all the aesthetic details have been taken care of, such as the aluminium finish of the heat exchangers; the soundproofing boxes for the compressors are transparent, so the Turbocor compressors are visible; the chiller was built flipped, so that the compressor compartments are facing the building and thus are visible to customers.
