The Cooling Technology Institute launched its new Sound Certification Program for heat rejection equipment, conducted in accordance with CTI Standard 204. By purchasing a CTI Sound Certified model, an owner/operator has assurance the heat rejection device will perform thermally as specified, as well as comply with the manufacturer’s published sound pressure ratings. This optional program, with additional data submittal, testing requirements and fees, may be added to product lines currently thermally certified under STD-201.
The initial participant in the new sound certification program is SPX Cooling Technologies with three product groupings. Any participating manufacturer in the CTI Thermal Certification Program interested in certifying their sound ratings is invited to do so by filling out the certification inquiry form and indicating its interest in Sound Certification.
The Sound Certification Program and the Thermal Certification Program are both continuously open to applications for new manufacturers and/or new product lines. CTI also encourages those manufacturers with lines that are not thermally certified to apply for thermal certification under the CTI STD 201 program by contacting the Thermal Certification Administrator.
The current versions of STD 204 OM (operations manual) and STD 204 RS (ratings standard), along with the companion Acceptance Test Code (ATC)128, are available for a nominal charge on the CTI Marketplace.
