12/11/2024

MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, a leading provider of mechanical and sustainable solutions in the Pacific Northwest, announced the appointment of Rory Olson as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2025. Olson takes over from Gus Simonds, who for the past 34 years successfully guided MacDonald-Miller into one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest and most successful mechanical contractors. Simonds, who plans to retire at the end of 2025, will step into a new role as Executive Chair of the Board of Directors.

Rory Olson has been appointed as CEO of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, effective January 2025.

“After a thoughtful and extensive internal search, the board concluded that Rory’s approach to leadership, his focus on innovation and operational excellence and vision for the future of our company and our industry is exactly what we need in our next leader,” said Gus Simonds. “I know Rory will do wonderful things to accelerate our business and further strengthen our great company culture now and in the future.”

Olson is no stranger to MacDonald-Miller, having spent the previous 19 years at the company serving in project management, operations, construction and building services leadership roles. Since 2021, Olson served as President of Building Services, one of the company’s largest and fastest-growing divisions. While in this role, he drew on his expertise in operations and construction, building information modeling and service delivery resulting in significant increases in revenue year over year.

“I’m excited to step into the CEO role and thank Gus for his three decades of steady, wise and unwavering leadership. Thanks to Gus, MacDonald-Miller is consistently recognized as one of the best companies in the Pacific Northwest and I’m happy he will remain deeply involved in his new role as Executive Chair,” said Rory Olson. “As I look to the future of our business, we are in a great position to lead our customers and our industry into a new era of smart, connected and climate-friendly buildings. Together with our amazing construction, service and corporate teams, we’ll continue to focus on what makes our company great, delivering quality solutions our customers need.”
