Wolong Electric America launched its Electronically Commutated (EC) motors series for commercial and industrial HVAC and ventilation systems. Manufactured in Monterrey, Mexico, and covering outputs from 0.09 to 7.5 kW, these motors deliver high efficiency, precise speed control and robust performance to help engineers and facility managers reduce energy use and operating costs. Built on high-efficiency IPM motor technology that meets or exceeds IE4 requirements, these motors provide high power density in a compact footprint and maintain smooth torque across the full speed range using vector control largely insensitive to motor parameter changes.
EC motors offer speed control accuracy down to 1 rpm for precise airflow and pressure management and supports multiple control options, including serial port, PWM, 0-10 VDC and 24 VAC multispeed inputs with up to five preset speeds for easy integration with BMS, PLCs and standard HVAC controls without external drives. Power input options span 115-230 VAC single-phase and 380-480 VAC three-phase supplies, with typical speed ranges from 200-2,200 rpm, supporting EC motor outputs from 0.09 to 7.5 kW and enabling one motor family to cover a wide range of fan and blower duties in both new equipment and retrofit applications.
To support uptime and protect connected equipment, the motors incorporate advanced electronic protections against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, locked rotor and overtemperature conditions, while magnet protection designs guard against demagnetization for long-term stability. Protection classes from IP20 up to IP66 and flexible mechanical options, including multiple shaft diameters and customizable shaft and lead lengths, allow OEMs to standardize on a common platform across indoor, outdoor and harsh environments.
Wolong Electric America’s EC motors leverage concentrated-flux IPM design to deliver higher power density, allowing OEMs to use smaller motors without sacrificing airflow or pressure capability. Customizable constant airflow functions, selectable rotation direction and configurable maximum speed limits give engineers tighter control over comfort, noise and mechanical stress, helping extend equipment life while maintaining consistent system performance.
Key families within the range include EM42, EM48, EM56 and up to EC160 motors with continuous 0-10 V, PWM or MODBUS control and resin-packed electronics for enhanced environmental protection, as well as high power EC motors up to 7.5 kW with maximum system efficiency around 91% to meet IE4 efficiency levels in larger HVAC and process applications. The Wolong EC motor series carries UL 60730 Class B certification, CE conformity and EC motor compliance to relevant EN standards, supporting regulatory, safety and EC motor requirements in North American and global markets and helping OEMs accelerate time to market.
